We’re part of a global system of capitalism or neoliberalism, designed to subjugate most African countries. It’s a system that doesn’t work for any country that’s outside of the majority-White West though it’s debatable whether it works even there.

Convincing people who don't personally have a problem that there indeed is a problem—in the world at large and within the organisation—is the biggest obstacle on the road to change. This is especially challenging among people and organisations that self-describe, and want to be perceived, as “liberal” and/or “progressive” who may express sympathy but are reluctant to act.

Black Lives Matter: What do I know about racism or social justice?
Over the summer, I spoke at an event organised by my undergraduate alumni association on my own racial blindspots. I’ve got mixed feelings about this talk. Why am I talking about Black Lives Matter?
